ShinWon Corporation has shared its vision for responsible, resilient and technology-powered apparel manufacturing at the 2025 ASEAN Inclusive Growth Summit, hosted by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event brought together government, business and academic leaders to discuss strategies for equitable economic growth across the ASEAN region.

During the session “Building a Sustainable Business,” CEO JJ Park outlined ShinWon’s people-centred approach to sustainability and its integration of digital innovation across manufacturing operations. “The textile business is no longer a traditional, labour-intensive industry. It’s now driven by AI technologies - not only in manufacturing, but also in design and data management,” he said. “By integrating AI across all operations, from production planning to smart factories, ShinWon achieves more accurate and efficient results that drive innovation and resilience.”

The company’s sustainability strategy combines digitalisation, inclusivity and transparency. Using AI-driven analytics and blockchain-enabled platforms such as Retraced, ShinWon is enhancing supply chain traceability while improving production efficiency. Technologies including 3D virtual sampling and predictive design tools have also reduced material waste and lead times, reinforcing the company’s environmental goals.

Park highlighted the firm’s 35-year partnership with Indonesia, where ShinWon operates a smart factory integrating next-generation ERP systems. With a growing network across Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia, and plans for a new Middle Eastern facility, ShinWon is diversifying its manufacturing base to ensure supply stability and access to key global markets. “Diversifying our production bases allows us to stay resilient amid shifting global trade dynamics,” Park said.

The company’s inclusive approach extends beyond technology to workforce empowerment. ShinWon’s collaboration with RISE (Reimagining Industry to Support Equality) and Mastercard’s Financial Health Program supports financial wellbeing and gender equality among factory employees in ASEAN nations. “Sustainability must start with people. Technology is the tool – and inclusion is the objective,” Park added.

Operating 15 entities across 10 countries and employing over 30,000 people, ShinWon continues to invest in digital transformation, employee development and ESG innovation to build a more equitable and sustainable global supply chain. ShinWon’s vision encompasses a fully vertical production process, encompassing spinning, knitting, dyeing, printing, washing, and warehousing in its production countries.
