Performance Days will once again challenge the textile industry’s approach to waste at its DAY 0 conference, returning on 28 October 2025 ahead of the Autumn Edition of the functional fabrics fair in Munich. Themed “In nature there is no waste,” the pre-event calls for a fundamental rethink of how waste is perceived, produced, and managed across the textile value chain.

DAY 0 aims to provoke new ways of thinking by reflecting on nature’s closed-loop systems, where every output becomes a new input. Organisers argue that this principle can inspire actionable change in an industry still burdened by linear production models. The conference offers a dedicated space for open dialogue, with a focus on professionals working in sustainability, ESG, and design roles.

Key to the event is a practical workshop led by sustainability strategist Bowie Miles, supported by Performance Days Expert Talks moderator Charles Ross. Together, they will guide participants through interactive sessions designed to translate theory into practical business strategies. The programme will explore how businesses can capture value from waste, emulate nature’s resilience, and implement closed-loop systems.

DAY 0 will also deliver real-world examples of turning post-consumer and post-industrial waste into usable resources, and will offer participants three actionable steps to reduce waste within their organisations. A focus on individual accountability, clearer regulatory frameworks, and a mindset shift toward responsible innovation underpin the day’s agenda.

Building on the success of its first edition, DAY 0 has become a meaningful space for professionals to learn, share insights, and align on sustainability goals before the main fair begins. Organisers are urging the industry to see waste not as an inevitable by-product, but as an opportunity for transformation.

The Autumn 2025 edition of Performance Days will take place on 29–30 October at Messe München, following DAY 0’s opening discussions.
