Shima Seiki, the leading flat knitting technology provider based in Wakayama, Japan, has launched APEXFiz Design-Sox, a new design and simulation software package tailored specifically for the sock industry. The announcement marks a significant enhancement to the APEXFiz suite, reinforcing Shima’s commitment to 3D virtual sampling and sustainable manufacturing.
Previously, creating sock designs within the APEXFiz platform required users to subscribe to broader software packages like APEXFiz Design-Knit or Design Pro and invest in additional 3D modules. With APEXFiz Design-Sox, these features are now integrated by default, reducing entry costs and making the technology more accessible to designers and manufacturers.
Users can view the software in action via a demonstration video on the APEXFiz website and take advantage of the 3D Sock Design course available through SHIMANAVI, Shima Seiki’s e-learning platform.
This release follows Shima Seiki’s earlier announcement of a sustainability-focused partnership with sock knitting machine manufacturer Lonati. The combination of Shima Seiki’s APEXFiz Design-Sox and Lonati’s ORION programming software enables optimised sock production through realistic 3D simulations, cutting waste and development time.
Masaki Karasuno, Shima Seiki’s media relations officer, stated that APEXFiz Design-Sox demonstrates the company’s ongoing mission to deliver practical innovations that help manufacturers transition to smarter and more efficient workflows. The solution builds on Shima Seiki’s legacy in WHOLEGARMENT technology and its advancements in digital sampling and demand forecasting.
APEXFiz Design-Sox officially launched today (20 June 2025). For full details, product videos, and technical documentation, interested parties are encouraged to consult the product website or read the accompanying white paper.
