Fira d’ Igualada and the Catalan fashion cluster MODACC, have signed a collaboration agreement with the Portuguese Textile Association (ATP) in order to jointly promote two textile fairs, Modtissimo and BSTIM, and stimulate the commercial development of the fashion industry on the Iberian Peninsula.

Both fairs aim to attract the production of big brands that have been manufacturing in the Asian countries and offer them the possibility of manufacturing “in proximity”.

The agreement establishes, among others, an exchange of spaces in both fairs so that BSTIM will be present at the showroom in Modtissimo fair in Oporto, Portugal, from 15-16 February. The following week a representation of Portuguese textile manufacturers will have their place at the BSTIM fairground.

The agreement includes other exchanges and collaborations meant to spread events and activities celebrated in the framework of both fairs, and the creation of a platform to jointly participate in other fairs to be held in other parts of the world with the aim of promoting the commercial development of the Catalan and Portuguese fashion industry in other countries.

Modtissimo and BSTIM

Modtissimo salon started in 1992 and is currently held in Oporto, Portugal. Its goal is bringing together dozens of exhibitors of fabrics and accessories, as well as clothes manufacturers, services companies, schools and institutions.

The textile fair BSTIM (Best Solutions in Textile Manufacturing) is organised by Fira d'Igualada and the textile group FAGEPI with the support of the Council of Igualada. Its main purpose is to promote homegrown manufacturing and strengthen the local industry. The third edition will be held from 22-23 February 2017 at the Old Slaughterhouse building in Igualada.
