This year marked a major milestone for Dutch Design Week (18–26 October 2025), which celebrated its 25th edition with a focus on the future of design, innovation, and material thinking.

Byborre played an active role in the festival, bringing its textile innovation into a variety of inspiring spaces, products, and creative collaborations across Eindhoven. It’s also a special year for the company, as founder Borre Akkersdijk has been appointed chair of the Emerging Design Talent programme at the Dutch Design Awards, working with a jury of six leading creatives to spotlight the next generation of designers.

Throughout Dutch Design Week, Byborre joined forces with forward-thinking designers, artists, and studios to demonstrate what happens when technology, craftsmanship, and creative freedom meet. From lighting to furniture, interiors to experimental forms, visitors will find Byborre textiles featured at five key locations across the city.

At The Social Hub, Byborre’s first North American collaboration with Canadian studio Hollis+Morris took shape in an immersive lighting installation wrapped in Byborre knits. The piece blends texture, warmth, and atmosphere - an architectural debut that highlights the power of cross-continental collaboration. Also on display were wall hangings created with Kiki van Eijk and BCXSY for the Osaka World Expo, alongside a curated selection from the Byborre collection.

In Building TT, STRIJP R, Byborre reunites with designer and artist Dirk Duif for We All Need Ducks - a playful textile interpretation of Duif’s original illustration. The work captures themes of friendship and connection through rich knit structure. The installation also features blankets, furniture, and a dedicated Byborre corner that showcases the brand’s accessible approach to textile design, from custom configurations to ready-made options.

At STRIJP R, design duo Daphna Laurens unveils two furniture pieces upholstered in a refined, custom Byborre textile. The minimalist appearance reveals unexpected depth on closer inspection, reflecting a shared commitment to tactility and material intelligence.

Also, at Piet Hein Eek, Studio Bogaerts presented the striking Mohs Chair, wrapped in Byborre’s Daniel textile. Bold and sculptural, the piece combines material exploration with a distinctive design language that demands attention.

Finally, at STRIJP-S → Klokgebouw, Byborre supports NewTexEco and designer Sjoerd Vroonland in a collaboration that brings the Yannick textile to life. Drawing on Japanese Boro techniques, the piece embodies a warm and thoughtful exploration of circularity, tradition, and forward-thinking design.
