Leading German knitwear manufacturer Marc Cain has announced the appointment of Dr Patric Spethmann as its new chief executive officer, effective from 1 June 2026. The appointment marks a significant step in the company’s long-term transformation strategy and its planned transition into an employee foundation.

The search for a new CEO was outlined earlier this year by founder Helmut Schlotterer as a key element in preparing the premium womenswear brand for the future. With extensive leadership experience and a strong strategic outlook, Dr Spethmann is expected to guide Marc Cain into its next era while building on its established values of innovation, craftsmanship and premium design.

Helmut Schlotterer will continue in his role as chairman of the board, where he will focus on mentoring Dr Spethmann and acting as a coach and advisor during the transition period.
