Hyosung, the world’s largest elastane manufacturer by market share, is poised to help brands deliver swimwear collections that align with the key trends for Spring/Summer 2026, according to its Fashion Design Center (FDC). The centre, which monitors global style directions to advise brands and retailers, has identified well-being, the rise of sports tourism, and a growing preference for sustainable materials as major influences on new swimwear development.
“Consumers are increasingly prioritising self-care, outdoor activity, and travel centred on sport, driving demand for versatile, functional garments crafted with sustainable fibres that enhance their lifestyles,” explained Gary Oh, General Manager of Hyosung FDC. “Our textile solutions support these demands, giving brands the tools to innovate and stand out.”
Sporty swimwear that blends performance with style is seeing strong interest, with surf-inspired looks and adventure-ready silhouettes featuring fresh textures, eco-friendly materials and improved functional benefits. For Hyosung, the move towards more sustainable swimwear manufacturing is already well underway, supported by its broad range of recycled and high-performance fibres under its Creora and regen brands.
Our focus is to help brands design pieces that fit how people really live, move and travel - combining comfort, confidence and lower impact on the planet
“Advances in sustainable textile design - especially through integrating recycled materials and durable fibres - are bringing genuine value to brands while offering consumers products that meet their expectations for long-lasting, responsible apparel,” said Claire O’Neill, Hyosung Director of European Brand Marketing – Textiles.
Several leading global swimwear labels are already set to introduce new collections featuring Hyosung’s innovations. Panache, for example, will launch swimwear made with 100% recycled PalmTree fabric containing regen elastane across its Signature Scallop, Liliflora, Polka Dot, Paradiso and Cascade ranges. Hyosung’s regen elastane is RCS-certified, made entirely from reclaimed waste generated during its own production processes, reflecting a genuine circular approach.
Surf-style trends are also being supported by Speedo’s introduction of the Lookout Volley 16” men’s board short - its first fully recycled four-way stretch short made with 100% regen elastane. The design reflects the growing appeal of active, adventure-ready pieces with sustainable credentials.
Meanwhile, Yamamay is advancing its eco-minded collections with its Basic Essential swimwear line. This range will use FishTale fabric, a next-generation textile developed with Hyosung and Hung Yen Knitting & Dyeing Co., Ltd. FishTale combines Hyosung’s regen Ocean post-consumer recycled nylon - partly sourced from discarded fishing nets - and 100% recycled regen Elastane. This innovative blend helps reduce marine waste while supporting a more circular production cycle.
Curvy Kate will launch its Wild Horizon, Sunset Palm and Ibiza collections using Hyosung’s advanced Creora Highclo Elastane. This fibre is engineered for exceptional chlorine resistance, durability and shape retention - extending the garment’s lifespan and maintaining performance over time, even in harsh pool conditions. Popular children’s lifestyle brand Hanna Andersson will also employ Creora Highclo across its upcoming swimwear lines to offer families more durable options that withstand regular water use.
“For Spring/Summer 2026, we believe the future of swimwear sits at the intersection of fashion, performance and sustainability,” O’Neill added. “Our focus is to help brands design pieces that fit how people really live, move and travel - combining comfort, confidence and lower impact on the planet.”
Hyosung’s complete offering spans elastane, specialty nylons and polyesters, all designed to meet the dynamic demands of today’s global textile market with proven technologies and a growing range of recycled and bio-based solutions. The company remains a proud Textile Exchange Partner-level Member, supporting the industry’s collective shift towards more transparent and responsible production.
